LEGENDARY GILAS PILIPINAS swept Siberian Bears for the championship of World League 6.17.
In game 3 of the finals, L.G. PHI took the W 80 : 78 with a clutch 3 pointer of Vilhelmas Butvydas to take the lead with 45 seconds remaining in the 4th quarter. Siberian Bears puts up a fight without their best player Ming-Wei Li who is injured. At the end of first quarter, Siberian Bears were up 23 : 16, at the end of 2nd quarter, Siberian Bears maintained their huge lead 43 : 29. They are fighting to stay alive and hopefully comeback from a 0-2 series for the championship, they got a great manager setting up great tactics to upset stronger teams, but L.G. PHI have a stronger tactical coach, and a great manager as well. It was a balanced scoring for both teams in the third quarter, L.G. PHI outscored Siberian Bears by 1 point in the third 25 : 24, Siberian Bears is still up though ending the 3rd quarter 67 : 54. In the 4th quarter, when the Siberian Bears fans at their homecourt are already celebrating, L.G. PHI, made a comeback and a clutch finish. They scored 26 points in the 4th compared to Siberian Bears 11, and it's enough to take the W. How it happened? Let's start in the last 2 minutes of the 4th quarter, 2:14 left in the game clock, Harvey Campos dunked the ball to maintain L.G. PHI in the game 76:75, 1:51 remaining in the 4th, Lito Carpio is called for a shooting foul, Piotr Sergeevich Khvostov made the 2 free throws to give Siberian Bears a 3 point lead 78 : 75, 1:31 remaining in the game, Harvey Campos scored back to back dunks for L.G. PHI to keep them in the game, 78 : 77. 1:08 remaining, Рубен Рябов missed a mid range shot thanks to great defense of Harvey Campos, Vilhelmas Butvydas gets the defensive rebound, the crowd is on their feet, it was an intense last minute of the game, Butvydas passed it to Campos, Campos hands it off to Carpio, Carpio trying to find an opening, gives it back to Campos, Campos sets up a screen and hands it off to Carpio, Carpio gives it back to Campos, Campos trying to find an open teammate, gives it back to Carpio, Carpio finds Butvydas, Butvydas attempts the 3 pointer for the lead, BANG! PHI the lead 78 : 80. 30 seconds remaining, Khvostov missed a 3 pointer defended well by Carpio, they got the offensive rebound though, another chance for Siberian Bears to either take the lead or tie the game, 16 seconds remaining and Khvostov missed another 3 point shot defended again by Carpio, but they got another offensive rebound, Khvostov attempts another 3 pointer at the buzzer... he missed it! 3 straight misses from Khvostov in the last 45 seconds of the game! Carpio played great defense on him. And LEGENDARY GILAS PILIPINAS wins it! L.G. PHI is the champion of World League 6.17! MVP of the match is Vilhelmas Butvydas finishing the game with 21 points, 4 rebounds, 3 assists, 1 steal and 1 block. Lito Carpio scored 13 points, 5 assists, and played great defense especially against Khvostov who finished the game with 23 points, 7/15 3pt FG (46.7%). Telmo Salero is always a reliable shooter and scored 11 points 3/4 from deep. Harvey Campos scored 9 points and clutch dunks in the 4th to help L.G. PHI took the W. Justin Brownlee, L.G. PHI franchise player, scored 4 points, 2 rebounds and 1 block and showed a great potential to lead the team in the future averaging 8.7 pts, 2.4 rebs, 1.4ast, 0.5 stl and 0.4 blk in the World League 6.17 and played 52 matches and averaged 17.4 mins.
Butvydas, L.G. PHI best player for the whole season, will not be back for the next season because he is just being borrowed from his original team, L.G. PHI GM needs to make adjustments and sign some quality free agents in the marketplace next season if not now, key pieces to this team will be out next season, L.G. PHI needs to rebuild again if they want to survive for the upcoming season.

Jonas Campos x Harvey Campos
L.G. PHI signed contract with a scout's player to train in their basketball school, and it's the son of L.G. PHI center Harvey Campos.
Jonas Campos is currently 15 y. 6'1 SG and expected to be a PF someday signed with the basketball school of L.G. PHI. His father, Harvey Campos, a 6'10 C from his first team Tambay Ballers II and currently playing for LEGENDARY GILAS PILIPINAS was interviewed after the club recently signed with his son Jonas
Campos. "I'm very happy that my club signed my son to their basketball school to improve and become a pro basketball player someday. It is unfortunate though for Charlie Tamayo because he would never reach his dreams to be a pro basketball player after L.G. PHI manager fired him to give space for my son. But I would like to thank my club GM for giving opportunity for my son to develop his skills and help him reach his potential." Campos said in an interview.
L.G. PHI currently has 5/5 talents from their basketball school, and is not looking to expand it because of financial factors.
Calimag, Ahanmisi, Campos, Arcales, Limampu, 5 young guns dreaming to become a pro basketball player someday. Will they reach their potential and play on a pro basketball league? Who knows!
Fun Fact: When you look at the Basketball School of L.G. PHI, it is enough to make a starting lineup with 5 different positions from the school talents.
